Arthur Guinness Projects Wave 2 Kicks Off @ Publika Solaris Dutamas


Over 200 people came from all over the city to explore what it means to “Buy with Heart”, the first Arthur Guinness Project (AGP) social enterprise Marketplace held in Publika where consumers could learn more, as well as purchase social enterprise products and services. The event also marked the kick off to Wave 2 of the Malaysian Arthur Guinness Projects which is organised in partnership with British Council Malaysia.

The event which serves as a brilliant platform for people to turn ideas into reality showcased 4 social ventures that received funding from the Arthur Guinness Projects – British Council “Entrepreneurs for Good” Wave 1 program and The highlight of the evening was the Dutch auction where several one of a kind, up-cycled products from social enterprise Biji Biji Initiative were auctioned off to eager consumers at a steal! The pallet coffee table, bike wheel clock and the bottle bedside lamp were some of the most popular items auctioned. The visionary Arthur Guinness Project works in partnership with British Council Malaysia here in Malaysia with the aim to inspire people to contribute towards the community in a variety of ways. The Arthur Guinness Projects - British Council’s Entrepreneurs for Good program supports social entrepreneurs in making positive changes in  their communities by offering skills training and mentoring, along with access to UK expertise, peer networks and start-up fundingWave 2 of the program will see another 6 local social projects awarded with funding as well as mentoring and business support. For interested applicants who wish to contribute to the society, call for applications will close on the 21st of March 2014 so >Click HERE< now to download the application form and send in your applications. In determining successful applicants, an expert panel will be looking for projects that will inspire everyone across Malaysia; those that deliver on innovation, creativity, achievability, as well as cultural and social good. Also the general public will vote online for the projects that they believe can truly make a difference in the Malaysian community starting from early May to 23rd of May 2014.
