Tiger White Presents ‘Coaster’ Premiere: The World’s First Film Made From Beer Coasters @Glasshouse at Seputeh, KL

Drawing inspiration from the brew’s philosophy of ‘It all starts with white’ comes ‘Coaster’ - Tiger White’s first crowd-sourced film project made by Malaysia’s creative talents with mentoring by ‘Everest’ director, Baltasar Kormákur.

It was unexpected; the short film was shot in three days and resulted in a thrilling, suspenseful movie that had the audience of Coaster’s exclusive screening at Glasshouse at Seputeh gasping and applauding a job well done. The tale tells the story of a young chef faced with a vengeance dilemma: should or shouldn’t he plate up the perfect revenge when he was hired to cook for the very mobster responsible for his father’s death?

Tiger White Presents ‘Coaster’ Premiere: The World’s First Film Made From Beer Coasters @Glasshouse at Seputeh, KL

The project was proof of the newly launched Tiger White’s simple philosophy - ‘It all starts with white’, which represents the idea that anybody can create anything if they have the courage to face a blank sheet of paper and start. It is this same resilience that framed the birth of the all new wheat variant.

Drawing inspiration from the brew’s attitude, some 5,000 physical coasters were given to selected bars and cafes in Malaysia from October with tigercoasterfilm.com hosting digital versions. These coasters served as blank canvases for young creative talents to enter and take on roles in the production from screenwriters to hair stylists to actors and even runners. We Jun and Lim Benji were the first two selected for the all-important roles of director and screenwriter respectively. Both these homegrown talents were instrumental in laying the groundwork, and crafting the plot whilst taking advice from Baltasar Kormákur. The director, who is no stranger to being courageous when bringing his ideas to life, was selected out of many potential Hollywood heavyweights for his valor and passion as it was most apparent in the retelling of tragic true accounts like Everest (starring Jake Gyllenhaal) and his Icelandic Oscar nominated film, The Deep.

The introduction of Tiger White proves once again that Tiger Beer does not rest on its laurels and constantly pushes the boundaries of innovation, to create fresh and exciting brews for its consumers. Through Coaster, the all-new innovative product sets out to inspire young Malaysians to uncage their creative potential and to remind them that every great piece of creative work starts the same way. They just need to be brave and take that first step.

Tiger White is brewed with subtle spicy hints of clove, coriander, and orange peel and like Coaster, is made exclusively in Malaysia by Guinness Anchor Berhad. The cloudy variant with an alcohol by volume of 5% is the latest addition to join Tiger’s expanding portfolio, two years after the brand unveiled its other innovative beverage Tiger Radler – a variant that combines the crisp and easy-drinking taste of Tiger Beer with the zesty flavour of natural lemon juice.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron Nuffnang Premiere @GSC Pavilion KL

In 2012, director Joss Whedon succeeded in making Marvel's fan dreams came true with The Avengers assembly, a Marvel's superheroes alliance comprises of Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye & Black Widow, basically a dream-like all-star team that seems never fail to impress (in case you didn’t know Marvel's The Avengers ranked 3rd in the All Time Worldwide Box Office Grosses with grossed over $1.5 billion worldwide).

The Avengers: Age of Ultron l Now Showing.

This April 2015, the heroes reassemble in the sequel of Marvel's The Avengers, goes by the name The Avengers: Age of Ultron which turn out to be another crowd-pleasing blockbuster movie packed with tons of high tech gadgets, explosion, super heroes action scenes and of course a badass super villain—Ultron (an artificial intelligence creation by Stark which were suppose to keep world at peace but unfortunately short circuit a little and decided to destroy the world.. sounds kinda familiar? ya guess that's not the first time A.I. try to mess up our world huh :P).

The Avengers: Age of Ultron Nuffnang Premiere @GSC Pavilion KL. You know its a definite blockbuster when you have Hulkbuster in da house b^^d  #NNPremiere #AvengersAgeOfUltron

Being the epic follow-up to the biggest super hero movie of all time, even though a few interesting characters has been introduce into the sequel, the overall story line is still relatively simple and predictable compared to the former, with a lack of genuine ‘unexpected action’ and character depth. That being said, the opening sequence with the impeccable appearance of our all-time-favourite Marvel’s Avengers heroes is still an impressive piece of action filmmaking, and the most anticipated scene of mine- the Hulk vs Hulkbuster action, that’s something I'd enjoy watching over and over again (not going to tell you why they fight but I’m glad they did XD). On top of that, the nicely infuse sense of humor did strikes some extra credits for the movie ^^

New favourite- The Hulkbuster

As the saying goes: there's a hero in all of us, so when the heroes assemble, let it be a ‘pop-culture sugar rush' or a ‘deep dark twisted plot showdown’, I’ll still eagerly anticipating the upcoming Marvel's cinematic sequels ;)

ps: don't leave too soon after the movie end, purplish Easter egg available :P

thanks to NuffnangMy & and Walt Disney Studio Malaysia for the cool Avengers t-shirt ^^

Nuffnang 'Maleficent' Premiere Party @ GSC Pavilion KL

Plot:Maleficent explores the untold story of Disney's most iconic villain from the classic "Sleeping Beauty" and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king's newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realises that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever. (c)Walt Disney Pictures

A huge thanks to Nuffnang & Walt Disney Studios Malaysia, I was invited to a way-interesting-than-normal premiere screening at GSC Pavilion KL just the other night, partying with abundance buffet before the screening while chilling with Maleficent & the human kingdom guardians *Like* XD

entering the magic kingdom of Maleficent ^^
Nuffnang 'Maleficent' Premiere Party @ GSC Pavilion KL.
Met Maleficent at the premiere party, I bet it will be big time awesome if Angelina Jolie was here *think tooooo much XD*
Some noms before the screening v^^v

Alright passing through the premiere party, let’s turn back to the movie itself. If you’re expecting a superbly written storyline with impressive twists & turns, one that would ‘wow’ you throughout the movie, the chances are you might find it slightly disappointing at the end of the movie Maleficent. Now don’t get me wrong though, the magical kingdom created by visual master Robert Stromberg is truly amazing (it somehow remind me of Avatar at some point), the audio sounds great & some of the characters are quite pleasing. Anyway I did raise my bar a little knowing that the impressively talented superstar Angelina Jolie will be unwinding the “true story” behind Disney’s 1959 Sleeping Beauty, maybe it’s my bad expecting too much huh..

Maleficent: in cinemas 29 May 2014.. Don't believe the fairy tale~ :)
#MaleficentMY #Nuffnang

Unveiling the other sides of a fairy tale and putting a heart & soul into an iconic villain is truly brilliant & prepossessing which definitely worth a thumb up, however my desire for a well-rounded story wasn’t quite fulfilled and perhaps the simplicity & a much predictable storyline is what holding the movie back from a better rating.

Thanks to NuffnangMY for the invites :)

Rating: 6.5/10~

Nuffnang Premiere Screening: The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Marvel superhero return to the big screen once again, this time with a 2 hours + blockbuster action thriller of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Heading back to a premiere screening after quite some time, the first thing that came to my mind while entering the theatre was: how amazing can Spider-Man be? Being the most filmed Marvel superhero, could Director Marc Webb’s spider-Man escape the web of familiar storyline & cliché..

Storyline: “We've always known that Spider-Man's most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2™, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. It's great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there's no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realise that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.” (c) Columbia Pictures

Overall The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is pretty much similar to its blockbuster debut in 2012, a perfect modern Hollywood blockbuster franchise film. With that being said, despite the stunning visual & sounds, there’s still more to be expect in the movie thanks to the strong performances from the entire cast. Having real-life couple Andrew Garfield & Emma Stone gives a great boost in chemistry to the movie & the ‘slightly-deviate-from-the-original’ story line involving Peter Parker's parents is indeed a good attempt. The first-person shots of spidey featured and some of the big exciting action scenes of Electro were pretty entertaining, and the character of Spider-Man which made more human does worth some extra credits.

Though The Amazing Spider-Man 2 wasn’t an outstanding masterpiece still this it is indeed an entertaining & enjoyable action thriller. It is nice to see Spider-Man onscreen again. :)

Nuffnang Premiere Screening: Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit

Being the 1st movie of 2014 I did pray hard for Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit to be a nice one as I wouldn’t wanna start my 2014 premiere series with a sour note, and thanks to director Kenneth Branagh for not disappointing me :)

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, in cinemas 16 Jan 2014
Blending together 75% of action violence flicks, 15% of sex & 10% of humour & miscellaneous (fancy car, hi-tech gears, luxury setting etc..) , you get a lovely cocktail of standard Hollywood action thriller movie, in this case – we have Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.. the recipe with slight modification here & there works like a charm almost every time & I bet it will continue to stay that way as it does cover all the audience's favourite elements. ^^

The actions & humour :)
The charms: Keira Knightley ;)
Story line: ‘Based on the character created by bestselling author Tom Clancy, "Jack Ryan" is a global action thriller set in the present day. The story centred around Jack Ryan (Chris Pine [Star Trek]) who appears to be an ordinary New York executive to his friends and loved ones, but his enlistment into the CIA secretly goes back years. He was brought in as a brainy Ph.D. who crunches global data – but when Ryan ferrets out a meticulously planned scheme to collapse the U.S. economy and spark global chaos, he becomes the only man with the skills to stop it. Now, he’s gone fully operational, thrust into a world of mounting suspicion, deception and deadly force. Caught between his tight-lipped handler Harper (Kevin Costner), his in-the-dark fiancée Cathy (Keira Knightley) and a brilliant Russian oligarch, Jack must confront a new reality where no one can seem to be trusted, yet the fate of millions rests on his finding the truth. With the urgency of a lit fuse, he’s in a race to stay one step ahead of everyone around him.’

Come back to the review, despite a rather predictable plot development and a typical happy ending where hero save the day, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit still makes a nice bright spot in the early 2014. With its smooth story line, nicely arranged action scenes, staring by some of the talented actors Chris Pine & Keira Knightley, even though the brand new Hollywood action thriller doesn’t really standout due to the fact that there were so many impressive movies of similar genre (007, Mission Impossible etc..), nevertheless this is for sure a good company to be consider if you’re looking for an entertaining popcorn night out. :)

Thanks to NuffnangMY for the invites :)

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ movie review

Shooting a story from the 2nd book in a trilogy can be difficult, the challenge to keep the story rolling while bringing in new excitements to the audience makes it so hard not to fail especially when the previous establishment was a great one. So being the 2nd installment of Hunger Games trilogy, does The Hunger Games: Catching Fire live up to the huge expectations?

Plot: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire picks up shortly after The Hunger Games ends, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) has returned home along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). Experiencing a post-traumatic stress she tries to go back to a semi-normal life in District 12, however winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a "Victor's Tour" of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering.. Increasingly threatened by Katniss' popularity among the starving masses, President Snow (Donald Sutherland) eventually decides to make the 75th Annual Hunger Games a unique one -- with the 24 Tributes selected among the living victors. Sent once again to the Arena, Katniss and Peeta must make alliances with an eclectic group of former Hunger Games winners to stay alive..”

The Girl on Fire :)
Running at two hours plus, the sequel is pretty comforting as it comes with similar key characters & a familiar sense of how the plot would emerge, so just sit back & watch as the Hunger Games trilogy continue.. (for those who’ve missed the 1st episode, a recap of The Hunger Games is highly recommended before heading for the sequel). Though it seems slightly draggy as new director Francis Lawrence does takes his time setting up an elaborative plot in the 1st hour, but as a whole the movie did well in delivers thrills, ideas and emotions.. and even though we have seen it before, the moment once the games begins is still my favorite with all those adrenaline pumping scenes, be prepared for dark & violent stabbing, animal attacks, poison, explosion etc.. :)

As a middle installment of trilogies it is unavoidable that the movie does face some second-act problem, however the significantly improved acting, eye catching special effects and satirical action all come together putting up an entertaining sci-fic movie, one that not to be miss by The Hunger games fans. ^^
Something you don't see in the movie: The 75th Hunger Games Arena. ^^

Nuffnang Premiere Screening: Thor - The Dark World movie review

“Some believe that before the universe there was nothing.. They're wrong, there was Darkness..”

After a couple of years the God of Thunder returns, this time to stand against an ancient dark force, trying to save the universe from a devastating destruction..

Story line: “Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself.  In the aftermath of Marvel’s ‘Thor’ and “Marvel’s ‘The Avengers’, Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness.  Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.”

When it comes to The Avengers superhero series of Marvel Studios films, an action blockbuster thriller is pretty much what to be expect, so being a sequel of Thor 2011, Thor: The Dark World does carry lots of expectation loads on its shoulder, and I can assure you Marvel fans out there this is a sequel that will not disappoint you. ^^ despite the luscious Asgardian action, stunning visual & audio and some endearing character beats, the affluent slightly twisted story line & perfect touch of humour is what I like the most about the movie, not to mention the sate-of-art CGI, a big hand for the production team. *clapclap*

Thor: The Dark World has proven itself to be as good as both the first movie (if not better) and it’s Avengers ally Iron Man 3 which came up earlier this year, a definite worth watching movie to end your October in a blast. A small reminder for the viewers, do stick around until the end as there’re not one but TWO after-credit scenes you wouldn’t wanna miss. :D

Thnx to NuffnangMY fr d tics ^^

Rhythm Of The Rain l《聽見下雨的聲音》Special Screening ☂`、ヽヽ、 ~

GSC Pavilion KL
